Pabst Racing Announces the Return of Sundaramoorthy

Oconomowoc, Wisconsin (October 31, 2019) - Pabst Racing announced the return of 16-year-old Yuven Sundaramoorthy for the 2020 Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship. Sundaramoorthy was born in Pabst Racing’s hometown of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. His love for motorsport began in Shanghai, where he saw his favorite driver, Nico Rosberg, race in Formula One.

Sundaramoorthy’s career started with success in karting before he moved stateside to race F1600. There he placed fourth and third in the F1600 Driver’s Championship in 2017 and 2018 respectively. In 2019, his first year with Pabst Racing in USF2000, he secured five top-10 finishes. Together, the team went on to win the USF2000 team championship that year.

"Confidence is key in this series, and with a solid year under my belt, I’m excited to return with Pabst Racing and tackle 2020,” said Sundaramoorthy. "I developed some good chemistry with the crew, and I tried to absorb learnings at each racetrack. Even in this recent October test at IMS, I could feel so many improvements. I know it's going to be a successful year.”

In preparation for the 2020 season, Sundaramoorthy says, "My goal is to be in contention for a championship next season. So, I’m adding additional performance training to my off-season regimen and plan to enter the MRF Championship to get even more seat time.”

With the completion of the 2019 season, Pabst Racing now has three consecutive team championship wins. They hope to continue this trend in 2020 with Sundaramoorthy on board for another season.

"We're thrilled to have Yuven back in a Pabst car for 2020,” said team owner Augie Pabst. “A sophomore season allows the driver to capitalize on the knowledge and experience gained as a rookie, so we are looking forward to great results with Yuven in 2020."

Sundaramoorthy will pilot the #21 Pabst Racing entry. This is the team’s first driver announcement in preparation for 2020. Fans should look forward to more announcements in the coming weeks.
